F. Bruder Stapleton, MD, Editor-in-Chief

F. Bruder Stapleton, MD, is the Ford/Morgan Professor and Chair of the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Washington School of Medicine and Pediatrician-in-Chief at Children's Hospital and Medical Center, Seattle. His research interests have included uric acid disorders and urinary stone disease in children. His research identified hypercalciuria as a cause of hematuria in children. He is currently Chair of the Subspecialties Committee of the American Board of Pediatrics. He is the founding editor of Journal Watch Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine and has served as Editor-in-Chief since its inception in 2002.

Howard Bauchner, MD, Guideline Watch and Associate Editor

Howard Bauchner, MD, is Professor of Pediatrics and Public Health and Director of the Division of General Pediatrics at Boston University School of Medicine/Boston Medical Center. He is director of a child health research unit that focuses on clinical trials, health disparities, access issues, medical informatics, evidence-based medicine, guidelines, and the consequences of undernutrition. His own research has focused on health promotion. He has conducted numerous trials concerning the inappropriate use of oral antibiotics in children. He is particularly interested in the role of evidence-based medicine and patient-oriented care in clinical decision making. Dr. Bauchner has served on the editorial board of Journal Watch Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine since its inception.

Robin Drucker, MD, Associate Editor

Robin Drucker, MD, is a primary care pediatrician at the Palo Alto Medical Foundation in Palo Alto, California. She completed her residency at Stanford University Medical Center where she also served as Chief Resident. Dr. Drucker follows a diverse socioeconomic patient population in the Bay Area, has authored publications on obesity, nutrition, and behavior, and is responsible for her department's pediatric hospitalist program based at Lucile Packard Children's Hospital at Stanford. Dr. Drucker joined the editorial board of Journal Watch Pediatrics & Adolescent Medicine in January 2008.

Judith G. Hall, OC, MD, Associate Editor

Judith G. Hall, OC, MD, is Professor of Pediatrics and Medical Genetics at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver. She is a clinical geneticist whose research includes the delineation of syndromes and the study of their natural history. Dr. Hall’s work has focused on congenital anomalies, including arthrogryposis (multiple congenital contractures), monozygotic twins, the genetics of short stature, neural tube defects, and nontraditional mechanisms of disease. She is a former president of the American Society of Human Genetics and the American Society of Pediatrics and has received the Order of Canada. Dr. Hall has served on the editorial board of Journal Watch Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine since its inception.

Alain Joffe, MD, MPH, FAAP, Associate Editor

Alain Joffe, MD, MPH, FAAP, is Director of the Student Health and Wellness Center at Johns Hopkins University and Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Dr. Joffe was the founder of the adolescent medicine program at the Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions and its director for 20 years. He has published more than 100 research articles, reviews, editorials, and book chapters pertaining to adolescent, young adult, and college health. Dr. Joffe has served on the editorial board of Journal Watch Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine since 2004.

William P. Kanto, Jr., MD, Associate Editor

William P. Kanto, Jr., MD, is Professor and Chairman of the Department of Pediatrics and Medical Director, Children's Medical Center at the Medical College of Georgia, Augusta. As a neonatologist with a special interest in perinatal care regionalization, he is active in the American Academy of Pediatrics and is a former member of the Committee on the Fetus and Newborn. Dr. Kanto is a reviewer for many medical journals and has authored or coauthored more than 100 academic publications. Dr. Kanto has served on the editorial board of Journal Watch Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine since its inception.

Martin T. Stein, MD, Associate Editor

Martin T. Stein, MD, is Professor of Pediatrics at the University of California, San Diego/Children's Hospital, San Diego. A clinician and educator who maintains an active practice, Dr. Stein edited the American Academy of Pediatrics' Guidelines for Health Supervision III, co-chaired the committee that developed the AAP’s practice guidelines for the diagnosis and treatment of attention deficit-hyperactivity disorders, and is coauthor of the textbook Encounters with Children: Pediatric Behavior and Development. He is a past president of the Society for Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics. Dr. Stein is particularly interested in the development of methods to incorporate developmental and behavioral concepts into the practice of pediatrics. Dr. Stein has served on the editorial board of Journal Watch Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine since its inception.

Cornelius W. Van Niel, MD, Associate Editor

Cornelius W. Van Niel, MD, is a primary care pediatrician at Sea Mar Community Health Centers in Seattle, where he works primarily with Latino families. As Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Washington School of Medicine/Children's Hospital Regional Medical Center, he teaches pediatrics residents and family medicine residents in outpatient and hospital settings. He also teaches during international health projects. Dr. Van Niel has investigated topics in complementary and integrative medicine such as probiotic use in childhood diarrhea. Dr. Van Niel has served on the editorial board of Journal Watch Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine since January 2006.

Peggy Sue Weintrub, MD, Associate Editor

Peggy Sue Weintrub, MD, is Clinical Professor and Chief of Pediatric Infectious Diseases at the University of California, San Francisco. Her subspecialty training is in immunology and pediatric infectious disease. Dr. Weintrub’s early research interests concerned vertically transmitted infection, particularly hepatitis C and HIV. Her current interest is the teaching and mentoring of students, residents, and fellows. She has served on the editorial board of Journal Watch Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine since its inception..
