Interesting study but I'm concerned about a quandary: E-Coli is the predominate bacteria in UTI's and Pen. Macrolides, and 1st and secondand generation cephalosporins are all ineffective. Couple that with the very real, and well documented, risk of untreated UTI's in pregancy. In sum while the study is interesting I can't see a way NOT to use the usual UTI meds. Is there an alternative?
